The Science & Technology Fair aims to promote scientific and technological culture by presenting and discussing topics with expert guests, sharing projects developed in schools, and through exhibitions. Its goal is to actively engage all schools in the municipality, the community, and various organizations in the communication of science and technology.
This initiative is organized by the House of Knowledge of Vila Verde and the Ciência Viva Clubs at the schools of the Prado School Group, the Moure and Ribeira do Neiva School Group, the Vila Verde School Group, the Vila Verde Secondary School, with collaboration from the Amar Terra Verde Professional School.
The Agora of Knowledge initiative, in collaboration with specialists, aims to address the needs of educators regarding any topic, subject, or issue that requires further exploration. It is jointly promoted by the House of Knowledge of Vila Verde and the University of Minho, as part of the Network of Houses of Knowledge.
The “House” Goes to School is a project of activities focused on various themes, either proposed by the House of Knowledge or by the school group/schools, and may involve other partners. These activities are carried out within the school environment.
MobiCurtas is a creativity project that aims to spark interest in young students for the production of original multimedia content using various techniques.
It is divided into three phases:
Digital Afternoons is a project aimed at the senior population and individuals with special needs. Its goal is to promote access to digital technologies and proficiency in their use, contributing to the digital inclusion and, consequently, the social inclusion of participants.
The Readers’ Community of the Network of Houses of Knowledge is a reading project aimed at young people and adults who enjoy reading and reflecting on books, shared with readers from the various Houses of Knowledge communities, and facilitated by a session leader, who may sometimes be the author of the work.
The project promotes literacy and lifelong reading, making it a social and communicative activity that contributes to the formation of active citizens, capable of questioning the world and taking action, through the sharing of knowledge, reflections, and concerns sparked by a reading session.
This initiative is a collaboration between the Documentation Services, Libraries, and Houses of Knowledge of the University of Minho, the House of Knowledge of Boticas, the House of Knowledge of Fafe, the House of Knowledge of Montalegre, the House of Knowledge of Paredes de Coura, the House of Knowledge of Ponte da Barca, the House of Knowledge of Valongo, and the House of Knowledge of Vila Verde, in collaboration with the Municipal Libraries. It is promoted monthly, typically on the third Wednesday of each month.
Conversations at the House is a project designed to address topics of interest to the general community and/or specific working groups.
Dialogue fosters knowledge, sharing, new ideas, plans, and achievements. So, why not encourage a good conversation?!
World Information Society Day has been celebrated by the House of Knowledge of Vila Verde since its foundation, focusing on topics related to the Information Society and reflecting on its implications.
Commemorated on May 17th, the day aims to promote the potential of the information society and raise awareness about the benefits of using new technologies for society, helping to reduce digital exclusion among populations.
