School Social Action

It is the responsibility of the municipalities, within their competencies and in accordance with current legislation, to organize and manage services and structures of support in the areas of school social action, which include meals, school transportation, and other financial aids, recreational activities, and family support for Preschool Education and the family support component for the 1st cycle, as well as the allocation of scholarships.

The Municipality of Vila Verde, in terms of school social action (SSA), has opted for the implementation of a social and educational policy that promotes educational success and equal access to education, through the inclusion and integration of all children in the educational process, regardless of their socio-economic background. In addition to the goal of ensuring the legally established supports, the municipality seeks to strengthen them and go beyond them through the implementation of supplementary measures.

The granting of scholarships by the Municipality of Vila Verde to higher education students residing in the municipality is a means of encouraging enrollment in higher education courses. This promotes the improvement of professional qualifications for young people in the municipality, equipping it with technical staff and human resources essential for the socio-economic and cultural development of the local area.

The aim is also to provide support to those who, due to their economic situation, would not have the opportunity to enter and continue their higher education studies.

The Municipal Regulation for granting scholarships to higher education students residing in the Municipality of Vila Verde is available for consultation.

The management of School Social Action (ASE), at the level of Preschool Education and the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, is the responsibility of the Vila Verde City Council, and the application phase for ASE for the 2025/2026 school year is now open.

The application process involves submitting the family allowance level declaration (levels A or B), registration for the meal service, and for the Family Support Program, which includes the Activities of Animation and Family Support (AAAF), the Family Support Component (CAF), designed for after-school care and extended school hours, and the Curricular Enrichment Activities (AEC).

This application is mandatory and does not replace registration on the Portal das Matrículas (Enrollment Portal).

To register your students, you must access the SIGA Platform (https://siga.edubox.pt), insert your access credentials, and under the Applications tab, the form will be available.

Please note that for guardians of preschool students, the following forms must be filled out:

• The preschool form for students who will remain in preschool for the next school year;
• Or the 1st cycle form for students who will be moving on to 1st grade.

The application will be available until June 15.

Note: Students who will attend public schools in the municipality for the first time (e.g., 1st enrollment in preschool) will have a distinct application period, which will be announced after the enrollment results are released.
