School Network
Updated on 21/11/2025The public school network of the Municipality of Vila Verde consists of three school groups and a secondary school located in the municipal center.
The Escola Profissional Amar Terra Verde is also located in the municipal center, with branches in the municipalities of Amares and Terras de Bouro.
The Agrupamento de Escolas de Moure e Ribeira do Neiva consists of:
- 5 schools for the 1st cycle of basic education
- 9 Kindergartens
- 1 EB23 (basic education school) in Moure and Ribeira do Neiva
- 1 EB23 in Ribeira do Neiva
The Agrupamento de Escolas de Vila Verde consists of:
- 12 schools for the 1st cycle of basic education
- 16 Kindergartens
- 1 EB23 in Vila Verde
- 1 EB23 Monsenhor Elísio de Araújo
The Agrupamento de Escolas de Prado consists of:
- 4 schools for the 1st cycle of basic education
- 4 Kindergartens
- 1 EB23 in Prado
Preschool education is provided in 29 public Kindergartens, serving a total of 834 students. The number of students attending preschool has been decreasing due to low birth rates and the emigration of young couples. Regarding family support and recreational activities (AAAF), these are provided in all Kindergartens based on the needs of the families.
Basic education in the 1st cycle is provided in 21 schools, with a total of 1,636 students. There has been a progressive decline in the number of students in recent years, mainly due to the decrease in the birth rate and, more recently, due to the emigration of families, as mentioned earlier. Regarding the provision of meals, all 1st cycle schools offer this service. All schools also provide extracurricular activities, ensuring their operation until 5:30 PM.
There are 3 school groups in the Municipality that include the 2nd and 3rd cycles, located in Prado, Vila Verde, and Moure e Ribeira, with a total of 2,123 students in the 2017/2018 school year.
The Secondary School is located in the municipal center, bringing together all students attending secondary education, with a total of 896 students. It is worth noting that the secondary school also receives 146 students from the 3rd cycle.
The Escola Profissional “Amar Terra Verde” is attending a total of 800 students and 32 classes in the current school year.
