This is a “pinha”-style pillory, following the canons of Luís Chaves. A square base of two steps supports the slightly taller square plinth of the pillory. The shaft is cylindrical and smooth, featuring a full peninsular shield (heraldic emblem of authority, possibly representing the national arms) at the top, and it lacks a capital. The finial is triangular.
