Environmental Education and Awareness

The Vila Verde Municipal Council promotes an ongoing policy of environmental education and awareness, recognizing the essential role of the community—particularly younger generations—in protecting the environment and building a sustainable and environmentally conscious municipality.

Through initiatives such as the Escola + Verde Project, schools in the municipality participate in educational environmental activities addressing waste and water management, energy efficiency, healthy eating, and biodiversity protection. Additionally, during Native Forest Week, schools and the community take part in environmental walks and other hands-on activities, providing direct contact with nature, promoting environmental volunteering, and raising awareness of the importance of ecosystem conservation.
