The Municipality of Vila Verde, in partnership with the Cávado Intermunicipal Community, held a training session on gender equality and non-discrimination for City Council leaders. The initiative, part of the Pro-Equality Project in Cávado, took place on March 13th in the Main Hall of the City Hall.
The training session falls under the second Priority Axis of Intervention, “Education and Training,” of Vila Verde’s II Municipal Plan for Equality and Non-Discrimination. Led by trainer Ana Guerreiro, the session provided a brief historical and legislative context for equality in Portugal and national plans, as well as clarification of various concepts related to equality and non-discrimination in municipal action.
It should be noted that the II Plan was approved in 2022 and aims to construct a sociological portrait, focusing on (in)equalities in general and gender (in)equalities in particular.
These actions are part of the “Pro-Equality in Cávado” project, under the Operational Program for Social Inclusion and Employment (POISE), and aim to diagnose, plan, implement, monitor, and adjust measures aimed at organizational modernization that promotes effective equality of treatment and opportunities between men and women.
