The Houses of Knowledge are spaces that bring together people and resources, driven by a shared goal to energize the region around information technology, knowledge, and innovation. They aim to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, reduce digital inequalities, and combat information exclusion within communities by engaging local, regional, and academic populations.
According to the Protocol for the Constitution and Implementation of the Network of Houses of Knowledge (RCdC), signed on August 18, 2010, the RCdC was established between the Center for Graphic Computing, the University of Minho, and the municipalities of Fafe, Paredes de Coura, Vieira do Minho, and Vila Verde. It was formed as a scientific and technological outreach network, based on a partnership between the University of Minho and several municipalities. Currently, the network operates in 14 locations: Largo do Paço (Braga), the Gualtar (Braga) and Azurém (Guimarães) campuses of the University of Minho, the University of Évora, and the municipalities of Vila Verde, Boticas, Fafe, Montalegre, Paredes de Coura, Trofa, Valongo, Vieira do Minho, Ponte da Barca, Chaves, Arcos de Valdevez, and Melgaço.
On November 26, 2014, the House of Knowledge of the Municipality of Vila Verde signed a Cooperation Agreement for the Network of Clubs of the House of Knowledge with the Moure and Ribeira do Neiva School Group, the Prado School Group, the Vila Verde School Group, the Vila Verde Secondary School, and the Amar Terra Verde Professional School. The aim of this agreement is to promote, plan, publicize, and carry out joint activities in both formal and non-formal learning contexts, with the goal of enhancing the synergy of networked work.
